Sue Johnston

Biography

Sue Johnston is one of the country’s most widely acclaimed actresses. Her work at the Royal Exchange includes productions of HINDLE WAKES and RICHARD II.

Other theatre work includes, SMALL CHANGE (Donmar Warehouse), THE MASTERBUILDER (Noel Coward Theatre), THE PLAY WHAT I WROTE (Wyndham’s) and THE MYSTERIES, (National Theatre). She has also played seasons at Bolton Octagon and the Library Theatre, Manchester.

Roles in television and film have included, SUGARTOWN, THE ROYLE FAMILY, A PASSIONATE WOMAN, JAM & JERUSALEM, LITTLE DORRIT, THE STREET, CUTTING IT, WAKING THE DEAD, MY UNCLE SILAS, BRASSED OFF, HETTY WAINTHROPP INVESTIGATES and BROOKSIDE. She was made an OBE in 2009.
