Biography
Michael Oglesby is Chairman of Bruntwood, one of the leading commercial property owners in the North of England. Each year the company invests 10% of profits into arts, charity and civic initiatives.
Outside of Bruntwood, Michael is currently Chairman of The Steering Board for the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, MIDAS – the inward investment organisation for Greater Manchester and the Board of Governors for the Royal Northern College of Music. Mike is also Chairman of the Oglesby Charitable Trust.
In 2006 the University of Manchester awarded him an honorary doctorate in Law, and in the same year he was voted Businessman of the Year in the North West by the CBI. In June 2007 Aston University bestowed an honorary doctorate in Science Upon him and from April 2007 to April 2008 he was High Sheriff of Greater Manchester and in May 2008 he was appointed Vice Lord Lieutenant of Great Manchester. Personal interests are varied and include theatre, music, sailing, skiing and walking.
