Barbican Young Poets is a space to write, to question, to risk. A space to grow in the company of others who, like you, are invested in the power of language—on the page, on the stage, and in the world.
Founded and facilitated by acclaimed poet and programme leader Jacob Sam-La Rose, the programme supports young writers in developing their craft, stretching their practice, and building creative lives anchored in curiosity, rigour, and care. You’ll generate new work, explore form and performance, and refine a selection of writing for publication, presentation, or alternative forms of expression.
More than a workshop series, Barbican Young Poets is a long-standing creative community and incubator for poetic voices that shape culture. Alongside regular sessions, guest artists will bring their own insights, provocations, and questions to the space.
Since 2022, the Barbican Young Poets anthologies have been published in partnership with external publishers. The latest anthologies from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts, can be purchased via the Barbican Shop.
