Northern Stage is looking for a creative individual to work closely with new Artistic Director Natalie Ibu to deliver a vision that reaches beyond the ordinary, making Northern Stage a building that is informed and transformed by the region so that we are an essential part of everyone’s lives, making vital pieces of culture for the North East of today and tomorrow.
You will work closely with the Artistic Director as part of the artistic team and Artistic Planning department, supporting the vision to be articulated through produced work, visiting programme and wraparound projects and leading on the development and delivery of a new talent development and sector support strategy. You will be a visible and accessible primary contact for theatre makers wishing to begin, advance or explore collaboration with Northern Stage.
As part of the Artistic Team, you’ll join the Associate Director (Young Company), freelance associates and the Artistic Director to debate, generate and develop the Northern Stage produced artistic programme, tasked with making pieces of culture and not just pieces of theatre that are explicitly concerned with the things that are preoccupying the city, the region and the nation.
As part of the Artistic Planning team, you’ll work with Producers to develop and curate programmes of work that offer both breadth and depth of experiences for a range of audiences, through the visiting company programme, small-scale creative events and interventions and an interconnected talent development programme.
You will work with the Artistic Director, Director of Participation and Head of Technical & Production to develop a new talent development strategy, deliver a programme that speaks to our new priorities, and work with the development department to harness resource to support that work. You will be a broker and facilitator, connecting independent artists and companies with Northern Stage, with the regional sector and with the national ecology.
