Taking Flight Festival 2018- Call for submissions

After a successful launch in February 2017, Red Dragonfly Productions in association with Grist to the Mill are running Taking Flight Festival 2018 and are looking for new and emerging writers from British East Asian, South Asian and South East Asian communities who are interested in contributing and sharing their contemporary and traditional stories.

After reviewing the submissions up to ten successful applicants  will be invited to a free one day workshop or a one to one session with Red Dragonfly and in-house dramaturge, Ross Ericson. In the Final round, three writers will be selected to have their plays produced and performed at the Taking Flight Festival  in July 2018.

There will be a £1000 fee paid to each writer whose play is performed at the festival. Red Dragonfly Productions are not only looking for established writers but potential writers of any ability or experience.

Applicants must be over eighteen and UK based and from a British East Asian, South Asian or South East Asian background.

If you want to be considered then please submit a full description of your idea – no longer than one A4 page, but make sure your story has a beginning,  middle and an end  – along with your name, ethnicity, location, contact email and phone number, and any access requirements to submissions@gristtheatre.co.uk Previous applicants are welcome to submit again.
