The Almighty Sometimes wins major Australian drama award

We are delighted that 2015 Judge’s Prize winner THE ALMIGHTY SOMETIMES has won the The Prize for Drama at the prestigious Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards- announced on Jan 31st 2019.

The Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards were inaugurated by the Victorian Government in 1985 to honour Australian writing. The awards are administered by the Wheeler Centre on behalf of the Premier of Victoria. The winners of the main suite of awards – fiction, non-fiction, drama, poetry, writing for young adults, and the biennial Prize for Indigenous Writing – each receive $25,000. The winner of the Prize for an Unpublished Manuscript receives $15,000. The winners of the seven award categories go on to contest the overall Victorian Prize for Literature, worth an additional $100,000. This is the single most valuable literary award in Australia.

Playwright Kendall Feaver (a resident in the UK during the 2015 Prize submission period, and thus eligible for the Prize) went on to see a world premier of her play at the Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, and a further Australian production at the Griffin Theatre, Sydney in 2017. She is now the Philip Parsons Fellowship for Emerging Playwrights at the Belvoir, Australia. The UK production of her winning play also received The UK Theatre Award 2018 and Kendall Feaver, Director Katy Rudd and actor Norah Lopez were all nominated in the 2nd year of The Stage Debut Awards for their work on the Royal Exchange Theatre premiere of The Almighty Sometimes. Katy Rudd won the category of ‘Best Director’.

The ALMIGHTY SOMETIMES was her first full length play.
