Yellow Earth’s 2020/22 -EXTENDED UNTIL Feb 14th

Applications now open for Yellow Earth’s 2020/22 #PWP Professional Writers Programme for Writers of East Asian and Southeast Asian descent

If you are a writer of East Asian/Southeast Asian descent with a new idea for theatre, this programme will develop your idea and craft by providing support from industry experts. Writers from the 2017/19 programme have gone on to have their plays produced by Yellow Earth, received commissions by the National Theatre and the BBC, and gained top writing agents.

An intensive two year programme for writers of East Asian and Southeast Asian descent, the Professional Writers programme will be starting its second iteration in May 2020.

 

This year the writers will be selected in two phases.

Phase 1: up to 12 writers will be invited to participate in weekly group meetings to develop a treatment for a new play. These meetings will be held on Saturday afternoons at Soho Theatre, London on 9/26/23/30 May 2020.

Phase 2: Four writers will receive seed commissions and additional support to complete their proposed new plays over the two-year period. This will include:

  • A seed commission of £2,000 per writer to include all travel and expenses within London.
  • Travel will be covered for anyone living outside of London. 
  • Eight one-to-one dramaturgy meetings 
  • Masterclasses by top industry professionals 
  • Development workshops with actors and directors 
  • Public Readings 
  • Industry connections
