Unity helps develop diverse theatre-makers at every stage of their careers, providing creative opportunities to develop artists’ interests, skills, confidence and careers.

Unity’s Creative pool is a completely free programme which enables creatives from all backgrounds to access a fantastic programme of training, networking, skills and resources to help build a sustainable career in the creative arts.

Gordon Millar is a cultural leader with extensive experience of both the subsidised and commercial sectors including management, producing and programming.

He is delighted to currently be CEO and Artistic Director of Unity, an organisation that inspires people through presenting and developing cultural works of great imagination that speak to, and reflect, the specific diversity of Liverpool.

Gordon began his career with Complicite and subsequent roles have included Theatre Director for HQ Theatres, Producer for Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Producer for the Barbican Centre, General Manager for Frantic Assembly and Programmer for the Ambassador Theatre Group. Gordon produced the inaugural season of Chester Storyhouse’s Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, now widely regarded as the northern alternative to Regent’s Park. He has previously been a board member for New Earth, 20 Stories High and Theatre O.
