Access Platform at Vault Festival

Access Platform is a new writing night platforming 5 D/deaf and disabled writers at Vault Festival 2019 in London’s Waterloo in March 2019. Access Platform is curated and produced by disabled dramaturgs; director Stephen Bailey and playwright Amy Bethan Evans.

Access Platform are grateful to be supported by Graeae, The Bunker, Ovalhouse, Camden People’s Theatre and Southwark Playhouse. They are currently applying for additional funding from ACE.

Anyone who self-identifies as D/deaf and/or disabled under the social model of disability and is eligible to work in the EU can apply. They don’t need proof or details of your impairment, just confirmation that you self-identify.

They are offering £20 per script plus some assistance with travel costs for writers coming from outside London.

They will select 5 pieces from a shortlist of 15. Everyone on the shortlist will get a full script report and they will aim to get some sort of feedback to everyone who submits.

How to Apply

  • Please submit a 5-10 minute piece of theatre with 1 or 2 characters to AccessPlatformVaults@gmail.com
  • Please include your phone number if you use the phone. Plays can be on any subject matter.

Deadline

31st January 2019

Event: 13th & 14th March 2019

Rehearsals will be the weeks of 4th/11th of March (dates tbc). You don’t need to physically be there if it’s too difficult, but it would be great if you were available to chat to about the script.
