Barrel Organ-LIVE Holbeck. Open for in person-digital scratch performances

Barrel Organ presents the second event in the relaunch of their highly successful LIVE programme, LIVE Holbeck. LIVE is a programme of support for emerging, underrepresented artists, and LIVE Holbeck is a scratch night of daring work, giving emerging, under-represented artists a chance to test new material before a live audience.

They are looking for five artists/groups to be supported to develop and test up to 20 minutes of material in front of a live audience at Slung Low’s The Holbeck in Leeds. This year, for the first time, LIVE will be delivered in a hybrid digital-live format. LIVE will present both in-person and digitally streamed performances. All work will be performed or live-streamed at the Holbeck, and will also be live-streamed online to audiences across the country.

Featured artists will receive financial support of £500, a mentor, support from the company, and feedback from the audience.

LIVE Holbeck will take place on Saturday 29th January 2022 at 7.30pm at The Holbeck (Slung Low) in Leeds and also streamed digitally. Your work can be delivered online or in-person. In-person slots are available to artists based in Yorkshire, and digital slots are open to artists making work anywhere in the UK.

The evening is supposed to be a space for artists currently under-represented in theatre, who are working with innovative forms to be able to test new material in front of an audience. The aim is to offer a platform and chance for constructive and beneficial criticism. They’re looking for daring, experimental and inclusive work that tackles a wide range of issues, agendas and ideas.

Tuesday 16th November at 5pm.

Applicants should be aware that they need to be free on Saturday 29th January 2022 for tech (online & in-person), with performances commencing at 7.30pm.

All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 26th November. This gives roughly 9 weeks development time for successful applicants.
