Breaking Away, Green Curtain Theatre

In some ways 2019  is an iconic year in the relationship between Ireland and the United Kingdom. Not only is it  one hundred years since the beginning of the War of Independence in Ireland and seventy years since the Republic of Ireland left the British commonwealth.  It is also the year when the United Kingdom is scheduled to leave the European Union.

Green Curtain Theatre are looking for plays that explore the theme of ‘breaking away’ with reference to the lives and experience of the Irish in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This experience can be contemporary or historical, serious or comic.

All the plays will be judged anonymously so everyone has the same chance. The judges will be looking for work that says something about the experience of Irish women or men living in Britain.
