A workshop led by playwright Eve Leigh, offering practical exercises for thinking about rules in gameplay and performance.
This workshop, aimed at theatremakers with an interest in game design, writing and/or dramaturgy, will offer practical exercises for thinking about rules (spoken and unspoken) in gameplay and ask: when is change possible? What changes us?
This workshop will explore:
- Building a creative universe with a distinctive set of rules,
- What the narrative consequences are when those rules are altered or transformed,
- The real-world implications of rules breaking or changing, and how those real-world implications can affect game design.
Facilitator Eve Leigh is a writer for performance, working across theatre, games, audio, screen, and digital. Works include Midnight Movie (Royal Court Theatre UK, Berliner Theatertreffen Stückemarkt DE), Words Fail (Coney UK), Movimento/Variations (36 Monkeys/National Theatre Festival BG), The Curtain (Young Vic Taking Part UK). Commissions include Royal Shakespeare Company, Audible, National Theatre Connections.
