PlayDates is a volunteer-run arts

organisation that facilitates free tablereads for new writing in development. They’re so excited to be hosting the first in-person readthrough of Laurence Rosier Staines’ Christ is Back after a successful zoom readthrough back in December 2022.

After being found on the coast of Beirut and immediately being kidnapped by a Bishop of the Catholic Church and taken to the Vatican, we can only conclude that Christ is back. We follow two senior Cardinals, the Bishop and an academic named Leila, as they contend with each other – and themselves – to work out what to do with Christ himself.
