Dundee Rep- Rep Stripped

Rep Stripped is a new festival showcasing the best as-yet-unseen stories for the stage from Dundee and across the country in a stripped back, intimate environment.

Taking place over ten days in April, they are giving a platform to the creation and development of new work.

Rep Stripped is a playing space for local and national artists to test out their ideas, and a unique experience for an audience to be the first to see them.

Dundee Rep are inviting submissions from theatre makers across the country who have ideas they would like to showcase as part of Rep Stripped. We’re especially interested in hearing from artists with a connection to Dundee and the surrounding area.

All successful applicants will be offered a fee for their involvement in Rep Stripped

Submission Guidelines

Dundee Rep are  inviting submissions from theatre makers across the country who have ideas they would like to showcase as part of REP STRIPPED. They’re especially interested in hearing from artists with a connection to Dundee and the surrounding area.
All that they ask is that the idea you’re submitting:

  • is in development (i.e. not production-ready)
  • hasn’t been seen by an audience before (or at least it hasn’t been seen by an audience in
    its current state)
  • is suited to one of the categories below;
  • SCRATCH, ZIPPED & LATES
These events will offer artists a stage or alternative space to test out an idea, a first-time audience for their work; and feedback to inform their next stage of development. All successful applicants will be offered a short rehearsal session and performance slot on the Rep stage, in an alternative space across the building or in a partner venue across the city. All work must embrace the stripped back approach, with minimal technical requirements (unless essential for the piece). Writers can submit an extract from a new play of up to 20 minutes.
  • PILOT
PILOT is an opportunity for three artists, companies or collective to each test out an idea in the early stages of development with a supported residency during REP STRIPPED. PILOT is a way of giving space, time and resources to artists to experiment with story
and concept. They don’t have a set brief or theme – all that we ask is that your project is intended for live performance and wouldn’t have too many technical requirements for the PILOT process.
One PILOT company will be offered:
    • A residency and rehearsal space for up to 5 days
    • £1,500 budget to pay those involved
    • Support from our production and artistic teams
    • Limited access to Dundee Rep’s props, costumes and technical equipment
    • A facilitated sharing at the end of the residency
Ideally, the longer PILOT would be the very first stage of development for this company’s
    idea/project.
Two PILOT companies will be offered:
    • A residency and rehearsal space for 2 – 3 days
    • £750 budget to pay those involved
    • Support from our production and artistic teams
    • Limited access to Dundee Rep’s props, costumes and technical equipment
    • A facilitated sharing at the end of the residency
