The Elan Valley has been awarded a prestigious Fellowship from the Arts Council of Wales. Applications from creative practitioners working in any art form are invited to apply for the Elan Valley Creative Wales Fellowship in the Elan Valley, Mid Wales. The one-year long Fellowship is available from September 2021 – August 2022.

The Elan Valley Creative Wales Fellowships offer established creative practitioners, based in Wales, a chance to experiment and develop their practice, while giving them time away from usual commitments in a beautiful, inspiring setting. The Fellowship includes six months’ accommodation within a one-year period, and a £9,000 bursary.

The Elan Valley is a beautiful and dramatic landscape shaped by the influence of the Victorian-era dams and reservoirs. Today the entire 72 square mile water catchment, which equates to 1% of Wales is a haven for wildlife with over 80% of the landscape under special protection.

The Fellowship opportunity is part of the Elan Links: People, Nature & Water Scheme, a £3.3 million programme to safeguard the unique and varied heritage of Elan while significantly enhancing outcomes for people, communities and heritage for the long term.

Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council of Wales, Elan Valley Trust, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and Community Arts Rhayader and District (CARAD).
