FREELANCE : FUTURES- A Summer Programme of Learning and Action for Equitable Conditions in Culture

FREELANCE : FUTURES is a call for collective learning and action to build equitable conditions for freelancers working in culture. Through free resources, workshops, panel discussions, self-organising spaces and virtual gathering (13 JUN – 17 JUN), we explore sector organising, freelancer rights and resources, organisational transformation and policy-making.
Over nine weeks, we invite you to take a journey…

FREELANCE : FUTURES is a 9-week programme for independent practitioners, cultural organisations, unions, funders and policymakers.
PART 1
16 MAY – 10 JUN

Getting informed, resourced and connected
PART 2
13 JUN – 17 JUNE

Online gathering, working together and creating change
PART 3
20 JUN – 15 JUL

Continuing the work, embedding shifts and defining next actions

The programme has been convened by a freelancer-led consortium, who have come together to build on existing advocacy, research and campaigning across culture.

In recognition that freelancers are not often remunerated for the time taken to attend sector events, the consortium has created 40 bursaries of £250 to enable more freelancers to engage.

They have sought to build a programme and a space that is as accessible as possible.
All sessions are free of charge and captioned.
All live events are recorded and available to access at times chosen by participants and will remain permanently available.
The programme is scheduled across nine weeks, in order to enable more people to integrate the extra labour within their work plans and commitments.
