Fresh Takes – an opportunity for artists who work with performance to develop a new work or body of research to be presented online

Three winning artists will each be given £2000 and 3 months of support and mentorship from Site Gallery to produce their project.

Site Gallery is inviting artists to develop new performance based work that engages with the specificities of an online space. They are looking to develop a discussion around how performance can not only exist, but expand and flourish within an online platform. They are looking for proposals that push beyond representations of performance and instead are made for viewing and experiencing online.

They will select up to three artists to develop a new work between September and December 2020. The work can incorporate live and recorded elements, depending on the needs of the project, but must engage with performance and the specificities of online space.  Completed projects will be published and hosted by Site Gallery through Site’s online platforms.

An award of £2000 will be given to cover the artists fee and production costs.

Site will support the artists through mentorship and technical advice which will be provided through its Artistic Director, Curator and Technical Producer.

Eligibility:

Site Gallery is an actively anti-racist organisation and through all our opportunities look to amplify the voices of those who are marginalised and underrepresented. We are actively seeking applications from Black artists, artists of colour, LGBTQIA+ artists and disabled artists.

Artists can be based anywhere in the world, though applications must be made in English. If the proposal is to produce work in a language other than English, translation or subtitles will need to be produced.

Deadline

Monday 31 August 2020 at 11.59pm.
