HiveNorth- OutStageUs open to short scripts from early to mid career LGBTQ+ writers.

The ground-breaking 2023 OutStageUs programme is designed to ignite your creativity by offering a tailor-made artistic journey for early to mid career LGBTQ+ writers. With a proud tradition of nurturing the talents of up-and-coming LGBTQ+ creators, OutStageUs provides a platform to showcase new LGBTQ+ writing and performance.

They invite LGBTQ+ writers to submit captivating scripts that delve into LGBTQ+ themes. They’re particularly eager to receive submissions from Global Majority writers, neurodiverse writers and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, as they continue to celebrate and champion diversity.

Feel free to submit scripts you’ve already been working on, or create something brand new for this event. They welcome monologues, duologues, short scenes, and spoken word pieces.

All submitted scripts will be read, and feedback will be offered to those shortlisted writers who will then be offered the opportunity to Zoom with the producers and discuss their script. Up to 10 scripts will be selected from the shortlist to be presented at the OutStageUs event at Salford’s The Lowry.

Writers will be offered a tailored development process working with professionals from our industry for four weeks.

With this in mind, they’re looking for writers who really want to embrace the development process and work with a dramaturg to really refine their work prior to the final performances.

The writers of the selected scripts will be paid a fee of £350.
