Leeds Playhouse- JERWOOD INTRODUCTION TO SET DESIGN COURSE

The nine-session course is FREE

There is a small stipend of £100 available to all participants to cover expenses.

They can provide BSL interpreters, support workers or anything else you might need to make the course accessible to you.

Are you looking to gain experience in Set Design? Would you like to learn model making skills and explore the process of a Set Designer? Are you aged over 18? Are you locally rooted to West Yorkshire?

This Autumn, Leeds Playhouse will run a course offering an artistic & practical deep dive for people interested in a career in Set Design. Working from a shared text, you will be introduced to the process of creating a set design for theatre including referencing and developing ideas, model making, design processes and presentations, and how set design interfaces with costume, props, stage management, lighting, AV and sound design.

Sessions will be practical and will be led by Bradford based Theatre Designer Warda Abbasi, with support from Leeds Playhouse Jerwood Resident Designer Delicia Sorhaindo, Deputy Artistic Director Amy Leach and members of the Playhouse’s Production Team as well as visiting artists.

This course is generously supported by the Jerwood Arts Developing Artists Fund.
