London Irish Play Festival 2017- call for submissions

A competition has been launched to find a new playwright among the Irish community in the UK.

Last year the London based Green Curtain Theatre Company held its inaugural festival of new Irish plays in venues across the capital. The festival returns in October 2017 and one of the plays in this year’s line-up will be the winner of the Green Curtain Play Competition.

They are looking for a talented playwright writing about the experiences of the Irish coming to Britain.

The contest is open to everyone who is Irish or part of the Irish Diaspora, no matter your age or level of education who is resident in the UK. The theme for the 2017 festival is  ‘Against The Odds’  with all the plays examining the lives of Irish people who have, in some way, contributed to British life, particularly when that contribution has involved a struggle of a personal, social or political nature.

Please email entries to competition@irishinlondontheatre.co.uk

Closing date is 30th June 2017. The winner will be notified on July 31st
