2020 has been a tremendously difficult year for theatre and the artists who make it. Due to the restrictions and uncertainty brought on by Covid-19, it was with great regret that the Lyric made the difficult decision to postpone its New Playwrights Programme to a time when they felt we could provide the appropriate level of support, focus, and opportunity that emerging artists deserve.

Therefore, they are absolutely delighted to be able to announce that they are now now accepting submissions for the New Playwrights Programme 2021! The programme is open to all new and emerging playwrights interested in developing a new full-length play with the guidance of the Lyric’s Literary Manager.

Participating writers will each receive a £1,000 bursary to take part in the programme.
