Every year, Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland selects six aspiring or emerging playwrights for an eight-month programme of mentoring.
The Mentoring Programme is delivered by established professional playwrights, to support the development of new plays. This is a professional development opportunity to improve playwriting skills and gain valuable insight into the playwriting process and profession.
What is included as part of the Mentoring Programme?
- One two-hour mentoring session each month for six months (January-June) with an established professional playwright, which includes script-in-progress feedback
- A Cultural Trip, which includes a theatre visit and the opportunity to meet key practitioners in Scottish theatre
- Skills workshops. In 2019 they were Writing for Radio with BBC Radio Drama Producer
- David Ian Neville and Introduction to the Business of Playwriting with Stephen Greenhorn, Chair of the Scottish Society of Playwrights
