Middle Child- First Show Fund Open!

Middle Child are a Hull-based company creating gig theatre that brings people together for a good night out with big ideas. They tell untold stories which capture the electrifying moment when the beat drops, mixing original live music with bold new writing.

Middle Child understands how difficult it can be for theatre makers to live and work in Hull, a city at the end of the line that often has to compete with the likes of Leeds, Manchester and London. Their artist development programme is a commitment to ensuring that artists in Hull are given top-class development opportunities across disciplines without needing to leave the city.

Much of the programme is diversity-led, working towards a better representation in the stories being told in Hull, the artists who are telling them and the effect that has on audiences in the city.

First Show Fund

Making your first piece of work can be overwhelming enough without even considering the costs. That’s why each year the Middle Child First Show Fund provides support to one new Hull company or individual to produce, market and record their first piece of work.

The fund covers a venue hire fee, script and marketing printing costs, professional filming, production photography and poster and flyer design. We will also provide a range of in-kind support, including rehearsal space plus time with each member of the core team, covering directing, producing, marketing and technical expertise.

The First Show Fund is available to any company or individual permanently based in Hull that’s yet to produce a show with a run of three or more performances.

Deadline

Applications for 2018 open on Monday 17 September and close on 1 November.
