Mrs C’s Collective- Writers Collective

Mrs C’s Collective is an artistic community that aims to nurture and support the growth of artists into autonomous creatives. The Writers’ Collective selects four playwrights to initially take part in a structured four-week seed commission of up to 15 pages of a new play. The playwrights will be guided to complete this commission across these four weeks, with an introductory workshop from the programme’s dramaturg, weekly top-tips and guidance, and a concluding session of sharings at the end of the writing period. From pitching, redrafting, exploring structure and character, to working with directors and designers; the full 12-month programme takes the writer on a journey through their work, resulting in a public sharing of their play as part of their very own festival The Big Share.

This programme is delivered both online and in person (London) to limit restrictions based on creatives’ location.

What to expect from the full programme:

  • A tailored 12-month programme focusing on the development of your chosen script from draft to public performance, development of writing skills and hands-on experience with the theatre industry
  • Development of skill and confidence in structure, character and artistic voice
  • 1-2-1 Dramaturgical feedback on three full drafts (detailed in the schedule)
  • Monthly meet-ups, workshops or events
  • Buddy and mentor system to encourage peer learning and collaboration
  • Creative Speed Dating event to match writers with creative collaborators
  • A professionally produced festival showcasing the four scripts in relaxed readings, collaborating with industry professionals (directors, light and sound designers and actors)
