As part of a pilot programme supported by Arts Council Wales, Sherman Theatre wishes to appoint a full-time Literary Manager and a part-time Literary Associate on a fixed-term contract for one year to drive forward the development of writers in Wales at all stages of their career.
These new roles will sit at the heart of Sherman Theatre’s artistic process, working closely with the Artistic Director to empower people from all walks of life to become playwrights. The Literary Department will be dedicated to identifying, nurturing and cultivating writers in both languages from grassroots to professional careers. These roles will oversee and support the development of commissioned and produced plays as well as ensuring that voices from all backgrounds are represented within the Sherman Theatre programme.
Sherman Theatre is committed to supporting work made in the Welsh Language and for that reason at least one of the two Literary Team roles – Literary Associate and Literary Manager – will be offered to someone who can deliver their work through the Welsh Language.
LITERARY MANAGER
£25,000 per annum

This is a new role within the artistic team at the Sherman Theatre, working closely with the Artistic Director to support and nurture writers from grassroots level right the way through to every stage of their career, supporting the development of commissioned and produced plays as well as ensuring that the voices of writers from all backgrounds are represented within the Sherman Theatre programme.
