New Writing North has produced nationally significant work from a base in Newcastle upon Tyne since 1996. They lead the development of new writing and creative reading in the North of England, working with writers in the North East, Yorkshire and the North West and connecting them to opportunities.

In autumn 2022 they are launching a new Writing and Publishing Skills Hub and we are now recruiting a team to deliver this programme.

 

Senior Programme Manager (Young People and Communities), New Writing North
Salary: £28,080 – £38,480 

The Senior Programme Manager (Young People and Communities) is a member of the Senior Management Team at New Writing North and leads the planning, fundraising, programming, delivery and evaluation of our work with young people and communities.

Senior Programme Manager (Skills and Engagement)
Salary: £28,080 – £38,480 

The Senior Programme Manager (Skills & Engagement) will creatively plan and strategically deliver a new creative skills offer for New Writing North. The role is part of skilled and dynamic Senior Management Team and reports to the Executive Director for Programme and Impact. Leading a team including a Manager and Assistant, the Senior Programme Manager will be responsible for achieving a high-quality creative skills programme that is embedded in and complements New Writing North’s wider work with adults and young people.

The skills programme has been designed to include a wide range of activities including training and learning, artist investment and development, small business support for practitioners and the development of online and in-person writing courses. We expect that the postholder will work further to shape and develop the programmes and to develop new resources and partnerships to advance work in this area. The work will be delivered across the North of Tyne area (Northumberland, Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside).

Programme Manager (Skills and Engagement)
Salary: £23,920 – £29,120 (please note appointments are usually made at the start of the pay band).

The Programme Manager (Skills & Engagement) will manage the marketing and delivery of a new creative skills offer for New Writing North. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager (Skills & Engagement) and working with the Programme Assistant (Skills & Engagement), the Programme Manager (Skills & Engagement) will ensure a high quality creative skills programme is delivered in collaboration with partners, supporting strategies for income generation and audience development across the programme. The postholder will manage partnerships with publishers, FE/HE providers, and cultural sector partners and will support the achievement of NWN’s strategy.

Programme Assistant (Skills and Engagement)
Salary:£18,720 – £21,840 (please note appointments are usually made at the start of the pay band).

The skills programme will offer a wide range of activities including training and learning, artist investment and development, small business support for practitioners and the development of online and in-person writing courses. The work will be delivered across the North of Tyne area (Northumberland, Newcastle upon Tyne and North Tyneside).

The Programme Assistant (Skills & Engagement) will support the marketing and delivery of a new creative skills offer for New Writing North ensuring a high-quality creative skills programme is delivered in collaboration with partners. The post holder will support programme delivery and marketing administratively, scheduling events, training and workshop opportunities, and planning meetings. The post holder will also source and coordinate information for marketing purposes and support with data collection and evaluation.

Freelance role: Creative Producer, West End of Newcastle
120 days per year @ £175 per day

New Writing North has received funding from The Paul Hamlyn Foundation to run an ambitious three-year programme of community driven, co-creative activity in specific Newcastle locations. We are seeking a freelance Community Creative Producer to lead the work in the Scotswood and Benwell areas of Newcastle.

The Creative Producer is pivotal to the success of the programme, you will develop partnerships with community-based organisations and relationships with individual residents year-round over a three-year period. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and a strong track record of creative facilitation. You will have access to a flexible programme budget with which to respond to the cultural ambitions and also the needs, drivers and barriers of people in those communities. The programme invests in promise, leadership potential and ambition of people in the area.
