In this interactive playwriting workshop, learn tools and techniques to help you generate dramatic stories, create characters, write dialogue, and structure scripts. There will also be an opportunity to discuss how to start and sustain a career as a scriptwriter.
The workshop will be led by James McDermott whose plays published by Samuel French include ‘Rubber Ring’ (Pleasance Islington/UK Tour; Winner of Pulse Festival’s Suitcase Prize) and ‘Time & Tide’ (Park Theatre; Offie nominated for Best New Play; longlisted for the Bruntwood, Papatango and Verity Bargate Playwriting Prizes). James has written plays for BBC Radio 4 and is one of the writers on ‘EastEnders’. James trained on The Royal Court Writers Group and Soho Theatre’s Writers Lab. He is a visiting lecturer in scriptwriting at Norwich University of the Arts
This writing workshop will run during a two-week R&D period for new play ‘Happy’ by Morven Robinson.
