The British Council is inviting expressions of interest from companies and artists wishing to be considered for THE next Edinburgh Showcase – the biennial platform of contemporary UK theatre, dance and live art presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Taking place on 19–24 August 2019, the Edinburgh Showcase will feature outstanding small and middle-scale productions made in the UK that are suitable for international touring .

The British Council invite over 200 delegates to attend each Edinburgh Showcase from their international network of performing arts professionals. This includes key programmers, producers and agents as well as overseas British Council colleagues.

The panel is seeking 25–30 productions of exceptional quality that are export ready and suitable for international markets. The curators will be particularly interested in work that challenges conventional practice, explores social issues, tackles global concerns, and can catalyse debate.

Eligibility

Professional artists or companies based in the UK who are working in contemporary theatre, dance or live art.

The panel will be looking for established or emerging artists who are working internationally, or who demonstrate the potential and the capacity to do so.

The successful artists will have strong track records, embracing innovative new approaches to performance and delivering high quality talks and workshops.

They will be committed to learning and sharing in different cultural contexts and open to adapting their work for different markets.

Each production needs to be available for international touring from September 2019 to September 2020.
