Outstage Us- Open to submissions

Since 2017 OutStageUs has presented new LGBT+ writing in a night celebrating our diverse community. Originally conceived as an LGBT+ artistic response to the Manchester Arena attack, the event has evolved into a showcase of the most exciting new LGBT+ writing that our community has to offer.

Since its inception, OutStageUs has presented almost thirty new pieces of writing and worked with over fifty artists  and creatives to bring those pieces to production.

OutStageUs is an exciting event which celebrates the LGBT+ community and its rich history of defiance and activism. Through comedy, drama, musical, spoken word and film OutStageUs gives strength, optimism and a voice to our community.

The 2020 OutStageUs programme aims to provide creative opportunities through an individually tailored artistic pathway.

They’re looking for scripts that explore LGBT+ themes and we especially welcome scripts from LGBT+ and BAME writers to promote our ethos of celebrating diversity.

All submitted scripts will be read and feedback will be offered. Up to 8 scripts will be selected for a uniquely tailored development process and these writers will receive a fee of £300. The final scripts will then be presented at the OutStageUs event at The Lowry.

Scripts can be something you’ve already been working on, or can be written specifically for the event. They can be monologues, duologues, short scenes or spoken word.
