OV12 Workshops- Free

These events below will give entry level artists the chance to explore different disciplines within the theatre industry,hosted by three members of The Old Vic 12.  ll workshops are free to attend and they are keen to engage participants from all backgrounds. Participants must be 16+.

DEVISING – AWAY FROM THE TRADITIONAL

With: Miranda Cromwell
When: Wed 6 Mar, 10am–12pm

For:  Theatre Makers, Actors, Directors, Writers, Choreographers, Designers or Theatre Artists of any other discipline

In this workshop theatre-maker Miranda Cromwell will explore different ways to devise theatre as a collective of makers from different backgrounds. How can we use our multi-perspectives and utilise the imagination of people of all disciplines, ages and abilities? In this workshop you will discover techniques to generate and refine devised material from just the seed of an idea. It’s focus will be on cross art form devising to create theatrically engaging and current work. Disclaimer – There will be music and magic and madness. All are welcome.

 

PERFORM AND RESPOND – BEGINNING WITH IMAGE

For: Designers, Writers & Directors

Theatre Designer Anna Orton and her art collective Ortonandon invite theatre creatives to join them in order to investigate methods of creating, writing and thinking inspired by image as a starting point.  Combining their performance art practice and theatre experience you will find new ways of creating through responding, whilst connecting with exciting new collaborators.

 

 

TAKING IT OUTSIDE – CREATING WORK FOR OUTDOOR AND UNUSUAL SPACES

For: Producers and Theatre Artists of any discipline

Interested in taking work out of traditional theatre spaces? Join producer Steph Weller to explore the practical and creative considerations of breaking free. How does space affect the story you’re telling? How do you consider the audience? What else do you need to think about?  Come with your ideas and leave with next steps for setting you on your journey towards taking it outside.
