At Paines Plough they are committed to discovering, championing and working with writers at every stage of their career. They are now launching a new Open Submissions programme to ensure they connect with more writers beyond our existing networks and who they might not meet through other means.
The first new submissions window will open on Wednesday 21 April at 5pm and close on Wednesday 26 May at 5pm.
They want to begin a more meaningful dialogue with writers, and we hope this will be a stronger way for you to get to know us and us to get to know you.
Paines Plough are interested in contemporary plays that tell us something about the world we live in today, from writers based in the UK and Ireland. They’re drawn to plays that are inherently theatrical, inventive with form and socially relevant.
How does it all work?
• You submit a 5-page extract of your writing.
• These will be handed to the internal artistic team to read.
• This will then lead to a face-to-face chat with the reader about your extract and your wider work.
Submissions received after 5pm on Wednesday 26 May will not be considered.
For meetings on either: w/c 07 June, w/c 05 July, w/c 02 August
