Writers based in South-West England (Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Scilly Isles, Somerset or Wiltshire) are invited to apply to be Papatango’s 2019 Resident Playwright, as part of their  WriteWest programme.

The Resident will receive a commission of £6,500 to write a new play, with R&D support and mentoring from leading theatre-makers across the region. No professional experience is required – just a pitch for the story you want to write and a sample of your writing.

How to apply

Email scripts@papatango.co.uk with:

• a 500 word cover letter explaining what difference the Residency would make to your writing and what story you hope to write
• a CV
• a 20 – 25 pages of a short play or extract from a longer play you have previously written (this does not need to have had any public performance).

Deadline

25 July 2019

All applicants will be contacted within a week of the deadline, with interviews for shortlisted candidates in the second week of July.
