Playwrights’ Studio- A Playwrights’ Gathering for Scottish writers

Thu, 4 March 2021

10:00 – 13:00 GMT

This Gathering is specifically designed for playwrights living in or from Scotland. Places are limited so, unfortunately, we are unable to welcome our colleagues from the wider theatre or arts sector to this particular event.
As the COVID-19 vaccine roll out gathers steam, and we finally look forward to a future with live performance, what lessons have we learned from the pandemic? What has this year taught us about ourselves, our community, and our sector? What can we do to ensure the future of theatre is one we can thrive in?  Join playwright colleagues as we come together to discuss how to utilise the practical lessons we have learned, to build a sector that is resilient, sustainable, and inclusive.

The Gathering will be facilitated by Rona Munro, playwright and Chair of Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland, and John McCann & Linda Duncan McLaughlin, playwrights and co-chairs of the Scottish Society of Playwrights. Provocations will be presented and participants will meet in breakout rooms to offer their own responses. Discussions in each room will be facilitated by playwrights from the Playwrights’ Studio board, members of the Scottish Society of Playwrights, and the wider playwriting community.

The outcomes from this Playwrights’ Gathering will help guide and inform the work of Playwrights’ Studio, and the Scottish Society of Playwrights, as they continue to support Scotland’s playwrights in the coming years.
