This programme is looking for the next generation of Midlands based poets who are ready to push their performance poetry and craft to the next level.

Over 12-weeks, 6 writers, theatre makers and poets will go through an intensive artistic development programme stretching poetic and theatrical art forms. Participants will gain mentoring and support throughout to develop and devise a 20 page script within the first 6 weeks. This script will then go on to be developed into a production in the new year and the programme will culminate in a final showcase performed at The Birmingham REP’s studio theatre on 15th February 2019.

The group will have weekly workshops led by professional theatre makers Chris Thorpe & Somalia Seaton every Tuesday 6-9pm from 6th November 2018.

In addition, each artist will receive a paid residency at a national partner theatre between 7th – 26th December 2018.

They are  looking for artists who want to be pushed in their current art form to develop more poetic theatre opposed to elongated poetry sets or tired one person shows. Participants will be:

• Aged 18+
• Poet’s, Writers and theatre makers with intermediate experience and an emerging portfolio in theatre/poetry
• Midlands based artists only (East and West Midlands)
• Committed to developing a long-term career in theatre

Successful Applicants will be taken to interview on the 29th October 2018
Session Dates = 6th Nov, 13th Nov, 20th Nov, 27th Nov, 4th Dec, 18th Dec, 8th Jan 2019, 15th Jan, 22nd Jan, 29th Jan, 5th Feb, 12th Feb. Showcase date 15th Feb 2019. Applicants must be able to attend all dates.

Residency Dates vary from 6th Dec – 21st Dec, main residency week is 10th-14th December

An induction and theatre trip will take place on 30th October between 6-9pm
