Shows Wanted for UK’s First Zero-Waste Theatre, The Greenhouse Theatre C.I.C

The Greenhouse – the UK’s first zero-waste theatre – is now accepting applications for its 2021 programme. Founded in 2018, The Greenhouse is an industry-leading eco-theatre company, who created the UK’s first zero-waste pop-up theatre. Through their shows, they inspire personal, emotional connections with the climate crisis. Then, through education, outreach, and workshops, they share the skills and knowledge audiences need to take action. Underpinning all of this, they lead by example. Everything about this project – from shows, to  marketing strategies, to the venue itself – is completely zero-waste.

This year, The Greenhouse is expanding, taking on a month-long run in London in June, before transferring to Bedford for a four-month residency. They are looking for young creatives – writers, directors, both, or neither – who have an idea for a show that they could bring to life in their venue.

They will programme at least 2 shows, each with a commission of £1,500, and a £500 production budget. Shows will rehearse for two weeks in April, and then perform 10 times through the month of June in rep. They will also perform for one week in October in Bedford. They are very flexible with the type of show and its themes – all they ask is that it discusses the natural environment and our relationship to it in some way.

Deadline
