SICK! FESTIVAL MICRO COMMISSIONS

In July 2021, SICK! Festival has a Micro-commissioning fund of £6000 for 1-3 projects by early career artists in Greater Manchester and the North West.

They are seeking commissions that explore the most challenging and important issues that face communities today. Projects that look to the future with hope, that are rooted in trust and shared experience, that shine a light on our rights and our responsibilities, and that show us that change is possible.

They are not looking to support a new show for a traditional theatre format, a new album, a collection of poems or a series of paintings. They are not really looking for work that is just about you. They ARE looking to support projects rooted in the wider experience of people and communities in the city, that draw on substantial research or partnerships with community-based organisations, healthcare providers, charities or academic researchers.

They are looking for projects that employ different forms, processes and types of engagement with audiences. They want to hear from artists whose work crosses boundaries between performance, visual art, literature, film, music and digital practices.

As well as financial support, bursaries will include creative advice sessions, support in building collaborations with community, healthcare and academic partners as well as an opportunity to present work at SICK! Festival in May 2022.
