This new set of Awards in partnership with Sky Arts aims to celebrate and nurture British writers of colour at the beginnings of their careers. Five Awards are available, providing each winner with ten free mentoring sessions over the course of 12 months with an RSL Fellow writing in their form, as well as two sessions with Awards Ambassador Bernardine Evaristo. Thanks to funding from Sky Arts, mentorships are fully funded.
Five RSL Fellows will mentor five emerging writers in non fiction, screenwriting, fiction, poetry and playwriting. Applicants should not have published or produced substantial pieces of work, and must be resident in the UK in 2021
