Soho Theatre Writers Lab- deadline Sun 4th, bursaries available

The Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab programme is designed to help participants create a new full-length play or piece of theatre, over 9 months. They  meet participants once a month from October through to June, on Tuesday evenings or Saturdays. Workshops cover a wide range of topics and are led by Chris White, Lakesha Arie-Angelou, Holly DeAngelis and Jules Haworth with a number of guest artists involved over the year. They take writers through a three-draft process with one-to-one dramaturgy support and at the end of the process writers submit to the prestigious Tony Craze Award (annual)/Verity Bargate Award (biennial).

 

The early bird fee for the full programme is £150 and there are bursaries available to anyone on Universal Credit or other benefits

The Yolanda Mercy Bursary and the Ifeyinwa Frederick Bursary, for people who identify as Black (African and/or Caribbean descent) and are on a low income/disabled/LGBTQ+ are also available

All applicants who are new to the Soho and identify as people of colour, as having a disability, or as being on the LGBT+ spectrum can request an informal phone call to talk through their application.

They aim to get back to everyone by Friday 13 September. 

 

Course structure Nov 2019-June 2020:
Applicants must be available for the full programme including Saturday 2nd November.
Saturday workshops involve all 48 writers, Tuesday workshops are classes of 16 which take place over the first 3 Tuesdays of the month.
