StoryFutures Academy and InGAME’s Immersive Game Lab & Commission supports the development of next generation immersive, narrative-led games. This initiative will provide £15,000 to support games developers and writers at the early stages of concept development, followed by the chance to pitch for a £50,000 award to support the development of a new narrative-led immersive game.
The Immersive Game Lab & Commission will select 12 writers and narrative designers from the creative industries, to take part in a bespoke workshop that will train them to work on story-led immersive videogames. The Game Lab will take place in Dundee, Scotland, based on the Writers Rooms led by Adam Ganz and run in partnership with theatre company Punchdrunk’s charity, led by Director of Enrichment & CEO Peter Higgin. Writers can be from anywhere in the UK.
- Writers should be able to demonstrate a clear interest in or experience of writing for interactive.
- They are looking for experienced writers from any discipline, but they will look favourably on applicants who have experience of creating interactive work. This could be writing credits on released games titles, but games experience is not essential and self-published work in programs such as Twine or Ink, interactive theatre, interactive film or any other forms of interactive narrative would all be considered valuable, relevant experience.
- 12 writers will be selected to participate in the workshop, with 3 being shortlisted for the scoping phase and 1 being chosen for the final commission.
