StoryFutures Academy Writers Rooms with Punchdrunk- FREE

StoryFutures Academy Writers Rooms have been established to train writers and content creators for the immersive future. Writers Rooms will draw in writers and ideas generators from across sectors and disciplines to explore the possibilities of immersive technologies. They will expose participants to new approaches and understandings of story form, bringing together writers from traditional screen industries with appropriate collaborators with relevant skills in drama, technology and design.

Most labs will be call-driven, responding to a proven need or request for writers and content creators for a particular sector, approach or technology.
Participants will have the opportunity to apply for StoryFutures Academy funding opportunities, on-set training programmes and development and co-production schemes.

A 2-day Writers Room which aims to give theatre practitioners an introduction to storytelling in Immersive spaces. Working with Practitioners from Punchdrunk, creative technologists and Adam Ganz, Head of Writers Room. During the workshop participants will be introduced to a range of technologies, explore Punchdrunk’s approach to storytelling and develop their own immersive project in response to space.

 

Criteria 

  • The lab is for experienced creative professionals who are interested in making innovative use of Immersive Technology (Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality/Mixed Reality/Immersive Sound or other) and are looking for an opportunity to expand into immersive storytelling.
  • Participants must have at least 2-3 substantive credits and evidence an interest in immersive and show how participation in the workshop will enable them to move into new areas or otherwise expand or deepen their work.
  • Selection is competitive.
  • Applications should be made in teams of two – participants should clearly indicate on the application form who they are applying with.
  • All participants must be able to attend on both days of this event.
  • Applications may be from two people from an established theatre company or writer/ director/ performer teams.
  • StoryFutures Academy operates with a pledge to ensure 50% of participants are women and 20% are from BAME backgrounds.
