Free residencies at the beautiful Hawkwood in Gloucestershire for Global Majority artists. Hawkwood is a beautiful 19th century house surrounded by acres of woodlands, farmlands and gardens in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

What’s on offer?

• Studio space at Hawkwood for one week (Monday – Friday)
• Accommodation in the beautiful 19th century house
• Delicious daily meals prepared fresh on site
• Opportunity to build a relationship with Strike A Light & Hawkwood

The weeks available are:

• 4 – 8 December 2023
• 11 – 15 December 2023
• 18 – 22 December 2023

Criteria 

• Global Majority artists*
• Professional companies/artists who make contemporary performance (theatre, spoken word, dance etc)
• Companies/artists who feel that Strike A Light’s 7 principles are a good fit with your own ethos, values and way of working and are interested in working with communities or in a co-created way
• They are particularly interested in hearing from artists who identify as LGBTQ+, working class, Disabled, neurodiverse or those with a long term/chronic health condition
• An opportunity to be away from the demands of everyday life to focus on your creative practice. You could be rehearsing a show, developing something new or just using the time and space to test ideas.

*Global majority definition: applicants from Black, Asian, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islander, Indigenous, Native American, Hawaiian, Hispanic/Latinx or Mixed-Race backgrounds.
