Tamasha- Call out for diverse comedy shorts

Applications are now open for writers to submit short scripts for Tamasha’s next scratch night, a collaboration with Soho Theatre to find the best diverse new comedy writing talent. Tamasha are not looking for stand-up routines – but short plays, sketches or scenes for up to four actors. They want to see scripts which fearlessly take on the extraordinary times we are living in through, scripts which explore and comment on the hidden fault lines in our society, but above all – scripts which make us double-up with laughter.

Applications are open to writers at any stage of their career, though Tamasha will prioritise scripts set in diverse worlds, and particularly encourage writers from diverse backgrounds. They are looking for comedies which dare to step outside of the mainstream, and put under-represented communities centre-stage.

The four winners will receive dramaturgical feedback and an opportunity to develop their piece in response, plus a fee to have their work performed by professional actors at a script-in-hand reading at Soho Theatre on Monday 12 June 7.30pm.

How to apply: Send your scripts with a CV and covering letter to projects@tamasha.org.uk with comedy scratch submission in the subject line.
