The Curve Leicester- Performing Musical Theatre in BSL and English Workshop with Lilac Yosiphon

This 2-day workshop is aimed at deaf and hearing BSL users who are interested in developing their skills in musical theatre, and at musical theatre performers who have an interest in working bilingually in English and British Sign Language.

Over the course of the two days, you will focus on acting through song, visual storytelling, and character detail. You will spend one of the days with a BSL consultant to refine translations.  You will focus on character choices and relationships to inform the use of different communication styles in solos, duets, and ensemble moments.

The workshop will take place on the following dates:

Thursday 28 & Friday 29 September, 11am – 5pm.

To apply, please send a CV and the following to artistdevelopment@curvetheatre.co.uk:

If you are a BSL user, please send a short video of you signing a monologue or song of your choice. Alternatively, you can improvise a short monologue starting with the start – ‘if I never see you again, what I really need you to know is…’

If you are an MT actor, please send a short video of you singing a material of your choice, with a preference for contemporary MT material.

Please send applications in by Monday 18 September, 5pm.
