The Custom House- Opportunity for Young Female Writers

The Customs House are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for 10 young women to develop their writing with industry professionals.

They are looking for aspiring writers, who are aged between 16-25 years old who have an idea for a play/piece of theatre, and have a willingness to work with others to develop their concept.

All that is required, is their initial idea that they will be supported to workshop, develop, interrogate before they reach the process of writing it fully, and potentially to apply for next Takeover Young Writer in Residence, in 2022.

There will be a three day intensive on 25, 26, 27 October from 11.00am-3.00pm at The Customs House. These will be facilitated by writer Danielle Slade, director/dramaturg Natasha Haws, and supported by Fiona Martin, Deputy Director; Learning and Participation, The Customs House.

Sessions will explore their concept, and there will also be time/support for them to write or develop scenes, but we aren’t asking that interested applicants have to have anything written or fully formed before the sessions start.

There is no cost to attend, but writers would need to be available to attend all three days.
