The International Retreat for Writers at Hawthornden Castle has been founded to provide a peaceful setting where creative writers can work without disturbance. Hawthornden Castle stands on a secluded crag overlooking the valley of the river North Esk, just to the south of Edinburgh. The view is impressive, as is the silence surrounding the glen. Any creative writer, from any part of the world, who has already published may apply for a Fellowship at Hawthornden. There is a reference library, there is no computer access in the library or in the studios.

You will be offered individual rooms in shared house. The study-bedrooms have fine views and are fully furnished. The host will provide accommodation, board and food. You will need to pay your own individual traveling expenses
