Uproot Connect -free 8-week online programme for Black theatre-makers who are at risk of leaving the industry.

Sessions will be held over Zoom at 6:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9th February – 1st April 2021.

Uproot Connect is a free 8-week online programme that aims to support Black theatre-makers who are at risk of leaving the industry.

Connect will offer training in marketing, fundraising and alternative paths such as film and audio drama to 10 early-career artists. It will also offer them the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and build their network. This year’s mentors will be Abigail Sewell and Tobi Kyeremateng FRSA. Alongside the programme, participants will receive 1-1 creative coaching from Natasha Brown.

By the end of the programme, they will have formed a toolkit to ensure their future employability amidst the current uncertainty of our industry.

Confirmed guests include Stella Kanu, Natasha Brown, Nouveau Riche, Debbie Hannan, Koko Brown, Vicky Featherstone, Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor, Natalie Ibu, and an Arts Council England Representative. We are Bridge will also present sessions with Theresa Ikoko and Abigail Gonda. More to be announced.

Criteria 

  • This programme is open to Black theatre-makers of all disciplines (including onstage, offstage and admin roles) over the age of 18. We encourage applications from those based outside of London.
  • This programme is designed for early-career theatre-makers with less than two years of experience.
  • They are committed to working with people who have access needs and will make adjustments accordingly.
  • Applicants must be available for all programme dates
