Writer and Dramaturge on The Tay’s Gaelic Memoir 

Fee: £2000

Time Commitment: Approximately 60 hours over the course of the project. Time commitment will be negotiated and flexible around caring responsibilities.

They are looking to work with a writer who speaks and writes Gaelic fluently and who has experience leading community writing projects. 

The post holder will actively participate and support the Artistic Director and Associate Directors in the effective and efficient delivery of The Tay’s Gaelic Memoir, a partnership project with Comann nam Parant Obar Pheallaidh (Aberfeldy GME Parents Association), Fèis Thatha, Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Perth & Kinross Council celebrating Gaelic language and culture as part of Shades of Tay. The post holder works within the company’s Artistic Department and, as such, is expected to make a positive contribution to the development of the Department and to the success of the company as a whole. The writer will be part of the production team and work with community writers in English and Gaelic to develop their ideas and stories and collate and curate them into a final audio drama piece.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work with the Artistic Director and Associate Directors to deliver the artistic policies of the Pitlochry Festival Theatre through The Tay’s Gaelic Memoir.
  • To work within Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Artistic team taking responsibility for the writing work for The Tay’s Gaelic Memoir as directed by the Artistic Director and required by the project.
  • To support the Artistic Director to ensure that Pitlochry Festival Theatre maintain and develop their roles as leading Scottish producing theatres with a national reputation.
  • To promote and participate in an alert and positive approach to Health and Safety in the delivery of all Pitlochry Festival Theatre activities, in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety policy and practice.
