Young Pleasance London is the new young company for actors aged 16 – 25 at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington, launching in September 2018. They are not only looking for young actors to join the company, new writing will also be at the heart of Young Pleasance London.

They are looking for inspiring monologues from aspiring playwrights to enter our new playwriting competition. From the submissions, they will select a shortlist of approximately 20 monologues that will be performed by the Young Pleasance London company at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington, in December 2018 as their inaugural production. After this performance, 1 monologue will then be selected as the foundation of a new play to be devised, developed and performed by the same company in 2019. The writer of this winning play will be invited to join the company as resident playwright – from research and development workshops, through to rehearsals, and finally to the production itself in spring 2019.

Your monologue must be;

• About something you’re passionate about
• 2 – 3 minutes in length
• Written for a character aged 16 – 25
• Based in the present i.e. today, 2018
• Set where you live i.e. London, Edinburgh etc.
• Your own original work

To submit a monologue you must be:

• Aged 16 – 25
